Under Scaffold App – Version 1.1 (Build 2) - Support Information

1 Welcome Screen

When you first launch the app you are presented with a "Welcome to Under Scaffold" screen asking for some details about you that will be displayed in the app with any scaffolding reports you submit. Just enter a screen name, town/city and country.  The app will warn you if the screen name you choose is not unique so that you can choose a different one e.g. “John6352” rather then “John”.

2 Main Screen

You will then go into the app's Main screen that has a zoomable/moveable map centred on your current GPS location with map pins and a list (table) of tourist sites in that region with their current scaffolding status based on our analysis of the latest reports submitted by app users, or input from site operators. Enter text in to the field "Search for site or place here", e.g. enter "London" or “Paris” or "Big Ben". The list update as search text is entered. Use the "Map / List" button to show / hide the map. Use the "Goto my location" button to re-center the map and list to your current location (e.g. after a map move or search). The map and list track your GPS location. Select a list row or map pin to see that site's details screen

3 Site Screen 

The Site Screen has a “stock” photo without any scaffolding plus any app user reports for the site. E.g. "Big Ben" has many scaffolding reports (currently in 2019) including a "Site Operator" report and reports by a "Star reporter" with screen name "Matthew" (a star emoji before his screen name). Touch a row in the "Latest Reports" list to see the report screen.

4 Report Screen

The report screen has the photo and comments (with report age) that the Under Scaffold app user (or Operator) provided. Go back (using the back symbol at the top of the screen) to the Site’s page and touch the “Add Report” button.

5 Add Reports Screen

Here you can add a report for the site. You are asked for your assessment of the site’s scaffolding status by pressing one of the buttons: None, Some, Lots. You can also enter a comment (optional) e.g. “the south side of the tower has scaffolding right now but you an photograph the north side an see no scaffolding”. You must add a photo using your phone’s Camera or Photo Library (not optional). 

The photo must have been taken by you (the app user) such that you own the copyright. The Terms of using Under Scaffolding (under the "Menu" on the app's Main page) state that the app user allows us to use the provided photo / comments in the app.  All user submitted content is moderated by us before being presented in the app.  A notification message back to your phone confirms when the report is accepted into the app by us.

6 Other Screens (accessed via the “Menu” button at the top of the Main Screen) 

6.1 Add a missing Site

This allows you to add a Tourist Site you think is missing from our database. Just provide the minimal information we request on the screen and a scaffolding report/photo. This is all moderated by us before it is published in the app. We add the Latitude, Longitude, official email and stock photo for the site. A notification message back to your phone confirms when the new site is accepted into the app by us.

6.2 For Site Operators

This allows the operators (e.g. owners or managers) of tourist sites that we list in the app already to claim them so that all their reports (past or future) for that site show up as "Site Operator" reports in the app. We see the request and verify the claim to be valid by sending a message to the official email address (or official contact form) that we have on file for that asking the recipient to approve the claim for your screen name.  A notification message back to the app user’s phone (the claimant) confirms when the claim is accepted by the site’s official contact.
